Happenings of Week 4!!

Hello!! This week was pretty awesome!! Mainly because I'm a missionary!

1. We go to the institute class on Tuesday to then talk to 2 of our recent converts. But also for free lunch afterward :] BUT this week was about dating and marriage... as a missionary lets just say it was awkward.
2. We had an FHE with a family and then went straight to another meeting. I needed my planner, the thing that has your 6 weeks of life in it, and I couldn't find it for the LIFE of me. I thought maybe I left it at the meeting before this one so we went back... yes it was there, in the ROAD! It had gotten ran over by a car with tire marks to prove it and my buzz light year pencil... shattered. It was funny.
3. We had a lesson with our ward mission leaders family and while he was talking about missionary work he brought up our spirit. Now this is something we hear all the time. As missionaries we have a different spirit you can feel and see. He said that as soon as we walked into his house it changed. His boys stoped playing and listened to what we had to say, and they could feel the change in the room. We notice a difference in when people look at us but it was cool to hear him say that. What a blessing it is to be me right now! I LOVE it!
4. We had a lesson with an investigator about the Plan of Salvation. We asked him which kingdom he wanted, he said the celestial. I asked him what habits he would need to give up to get there to live with Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. Here came the down pour. He expressed a lot of different things BUT he mainly expressed the desire to stop and get to the Celestial kingdom. I'm excited for him! Nervous but I have faith.
5. Our less active Sharon is AMAZING! She is doing REALLY well with the gospel knowing and her testimony. Her cigarettes keep getting in her way BUT it has been 7 days so far and she said she is going to do it this time.
6. We had a special mission wide meeting this week. It was how to work with members and how it is your job to be the social conversion and we are the spiritual conversion with teaching the lessons. She was AMAZING and we are trying to teach it to our members now. It was really cool and hopefully it works!
7. Well today it was 101 degree before we got into the library and the other day we got in the car and were like, "Its freezing!" Look at the temp... it was 73 degrees. My blood is getting thin! ahahah
8. A less active we met this week came to church! They had a bad experience in their last ward and just got out of the habit. We had a lesson with them and they were really nice! She wants to start coming more. Her husband wants to be cant because of a back problem. He cant sit down.
9. Alice our other investigator is still progressing but wont commit to baptism... yet. She even came to the Relief Society Broadcast by herself. She is praying, even for the Prophet and conference, reading the Book of Mormon, keeping her other commitments that go with the gospel. She is feeling the Spirit and now she needs to act on it :]
10. The Relief Society broadcast... WOW! I LOVED President Utchdorf talk! I loved when he said,
"You are not forgotten, sister, wherever you are and whatever the circumstances." "No matter how dark your days may seem, no matter how insignificant you may feel, no matter how overshadowed you think you may be, your Heavenly Father has not forgotten you. In fact, He loves you, with an infinite love. …" I know that we should all know this but it was so nice to hear it again.

I LOVE YOU!!

I LOVE causing CHAOS for Satan!!

Hello!! Here I am... my half way mark has come and gone with the work going good!

1. We went to Forest lawn last Monday. There was about 9 of us all on a mission to find where Michael Jackson was... WE FOUND HIM!! Well... the rumors says he was there and there were flowers to Michael there and a car outside with MJ stickers all over it. You could only go inside the building where he was if you knew the name and the place number so we took a picture outside hahah
2. Our mission President was at institute on Tuesday and we have a recent convert there so we got to go. He talked with us about having what he called a "Pillar of Light Experience" How we can have one in our lives to gain the testimony we need.
3. Cesar our Recent convert has never had a birthday party... so we put together a little surprise celebration for him. The Kohnles did most of it. They are amazing!!! But Cesar was SOO happy!
4. We invited Alice to be baptized!! She said no. BUT it was because her Catholic church is familiar but then the next day she came to church and was participating and nodding her head. Her prayers are still asking to help her to learn more and he receptive and open as she reads the Book of Mormon. We will she what happens. She might even come to the Relief Society broadcast Saturday!
5. A former investigator called us up to read the Book of Mormon with him over the phone... we did and then set up a time to come by that night. We had a lesson and read more then we set up our next appointment for Tuesday. His name is Andrew and he is GREAT! I hope this time around he sticks to it and keeps learning.
6. There was an open house at our church building... it had been under construction for 3 years and it was the 75th anniversary and re dedication. Each of the rooms had different displays. Like temples, Boy Scouts, emergency preparedness, history, young women and relief society. Sister Foster and I worked in a room about our beliefs. It was pretty much a mini visitors center. Since there were so many people there member and non member it was a great missionary work! I was able to hand out 2 copies of the Book of Mormon. I hope it helps these people in their search...
7. Sister Foster and I got to teach the Gospel Essentials class yesterday about God. Well pretty much I am SO happy to know that we have a God and that he is our Heavenly Father. One of the scriptures that I found while preparing I think has become one of my new favorites. It is Jacob 3:1-2 I LOVE that is says to FEAST on God's love. It is there. He has given us SO much! We need to make sure we partake and find peace in it.

Well... I'm off for now! I will be back next Tuesday!

LOVE YOU!!

I'm on the countdown home?! Where did the time go?!

Can anyone else believe this? Because I am freakin out a bit :] I have officially been on half of my mission! Here are the happenings for the week!
1. We had an AWESOME lesson with Elizabeth! She is a CRAZY busy 19 year old girl. We had a lesson about the restoration and she was really paying attention and asking good questions on the subject. She does work on Sundays which will be hard BUT I feel like there will be a way for her to come to church we just have to help her see it.
2. In meeting with Brother Stepp we have decided to not meet with him and have lessons but to have him come to the class we have on Tuesday with recent converts. We hope that with not meeting with us he will see how much the gospel has blessed him and how much he needs it... He said he will still read and pray and come to church so that is a good start!
3. We went to a members house who is struggling a lil' bit and we had root beer loats! I feel like I haven't had one of those in FOREVER! So yummy! The lesson was good too! We shared some talks with her and hopefully it helps!
4. With one of our meals this week we went to the Daines... Shout out to Darin... does that sound familiar? Eric Daines, He served in your mission!! He said he thinks you were leaving about the time he got there... he was companions with Elder Jensen and Butler. ANYWAY! We ate there and one of their sons totally whacked me over the head with a FIRM, foam baseball bat. I played it off, don't worry. Life of a missionary :]
5. Since being here in California all I hear about are Black Widows... I never saw one! Until this WEEK! It was HUGE!! It was probably the size of a 50 cent piece! Saw the red hourglass and everything!
6. A less active we work with has been having trouble with quitting smoking. On Friday during our lesson she was telling us she smoked that morning. I asked her if she had any more cigarettes. She said yes. I said, "Well, how about you go get them for me and you wont have them there to temp you." She was hesitate to do it BUT she did. She is progressing in SO many ways! The smoking is holding her back. BUT she is trying and doing better than before.
7. Well my half way was Saturday... weird. I had a lot of feelings that day. Excited to be able to come home and see everyone then sad because where did the time go?! Have I done what was needed? I got a little nervous haha BUT I have 281 more days to  serve and I am SOOOO grateful!
8. Alice is still GREAT! We gave her an assignment to read one chapter and she read 4! Then we went over again and she was sharing with us a scripture that she was relating to her life... She is great! I can feel that she will be baptized... when is the question still. But she will.
9. We got to watch the music and the spoken word yesterday in memory of September 11th... WOW! It was beautiful! I still cant believe it has been 10 years! I still remember telling Dustin that someone stole one of moms planes! :]
10. Favorite scripture this week... Mosiah 4:5. It is hard for me to understand how people don't realize how much Christ loves us individually. The imagery with this scriptures brings it alive for me. With His stripes we are truly healed.

I LOVE and miss you all like CRAZY!! I hope you are doing GREAT!!

Pasedena

Well HELLO!! Week 7 completed in Pasadena!! Here are the happenings...

1. My new companion is Sister Foster. She is from Idaho, the Boise area. She is the 7th of 8 children. She was home schooled. Loves stories and telling me all of them. She has been out a lil over a year. Pretty much a LOT different from my last companion.
2. We have been meeting with a recent converts aunt and she has been progressing slowly but still progressing. She doesn't feel pressured to come to church or read so that's good.
3. Brother Vasquez... PRAYED AGAIN!! He even prayed during the week with his family for the meal and Robbie their son said, "Good job Daddy! All you have to do is practice." then we read the book of Mormon and he read aloud... which he doesn't like to do apparently.
4. We went to go help a new member in our ward who lives in a duplex with her nonmember father. We walked up and found out that she forgot about us coming and wasn't home but we got to talk with Lewis. We had a GREAT talk and had a mini lesson about the atonement. He said we could come back so hopefully it will work out!
5. I got hit on again by this black guy. He asked if he could text me personally. I said no. Don't worry! BUT they did say the wanted to play basketball at the church so maybe a church tour before... I think so! :]
6. So we get to go to Mormon.org and I found an AWESOME video on there called, The infinite Power of Hope. One it is just good and Two I have been really into studying out what hope means and how I can apply it to my life. Which led me to my favorite scripture this week.
7. Ether 12:4 I LOVE that it says, "which hope cometh faith, maketh an anchor to the souls of men" An anchor.... I know we all need and anchor to help us. And as I have been studying it out the world looks at hope as a wishful, doubting word. But in the gospel hope is sure, unwavering and active. interesting how many things the world likes to twist.

Well my time is up, hope you are all doing GREAT!!

Love you!
